New Owners for an Old Friend
April 2017 Newport, RI
In mid April we flew to Newport, RI to spend three days with the new owners of an old faithful friend ‘Midnight Sun’ now renamed ‘Marie Louise 11’. Martha and John had purchased her in late 2016, and she spent the winter in the very capable hands of Tony Rego at Portsmouth Yacht Refit Center, being ‘fluffed and buffed’ and generally made ready for their adventures planned for the summer of 2017.
Our TaylorMade Training course began at the Hinckley Marina in Portsmouth, where the first day was spent in the engine room. More systems were examined on the morning of Day 2, and we then made our way to Newport, RI. The remainder of the second day, and all of the third were taken up with piloting, docking, anchoring, close quarters maneuvering, picking up a mooring, and safety procedures. Copious notes were taken until there was not an inch of blank space remaining in their training manuals.
Since their training the Robbs have successfully voyaged to St Petersburg, FL twice, out to Nantucket and north to Maine.
